Sabrina Martinez, Soprano, is a Spring 2024 graduate of Texas A&M University-Commerce. Throughout her time as an undergraduate student, Ms. Martinez was a member of the TAMUC Chorale, Chamber, and Opera Scenes Ensembles; Participating in the musical productions of A Little Night Music by Stephen Sondheim, The Bridges of Madison County by Jason Robert Brown, as well as the opera production of Le Nozze Di Figaro by W.A. Mozart. The Opera Scenes Ensemble provided an opportunity for her to perform and grow as a soloist, eventually performing as Cendrillon from Jules Massenet’s opera Cendrillon. While being a Chorale and Chamber Choir member, Ms. Martinez performed in multiple churches and schools across the DFW area. Through the Chamber Choir, she obtained the opportunity to perform in concerts at the St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City, Cathedral de San Juan Bautista in Puerto Rico, and the Natural Bridge Caverns in New Braunfels, Tx.
Outside of these productions, Ms. Martinez performed as a soloist in two recitals featuring extremely challenging art songs, song cycles, Lied, and arias by W.A. Mozart, Franz Schubert, Claude Debussy, Francis Poulenc, Hugo Wolf, Undine S. Moore, and many more. The repertoire featured in both recitals was composed for lyric, soubrette, and dramatic soprano, assisting Ms. Martinez in attaining a vast understanding of vocal literature, musical technique, and vocal pedagogy.
She also continuously competed as a soloist at the Texoma Region Voice Competition and DFW Region Voice Competition of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. In February 2024, she was the winner of the Collegiate Vocal Solo Competition hosted by the Plano Civic Chorus.
Ms. Martinez has been a member of the Texas Music Educators Association since 2019. Despite being an alternate for Pre-Area in 2018, she earned a place in the 2019 Large School All-State Mixed Choir, acquiring personal experience on how to be successful through the All-State and All-Region process. She is thrilled to share her understanding of the voice, and to assist students in creating music that they love!
